We’re delighted to announce that one of the South West’s largest further and higher education colleges is now home to a community-owned solar rooftop array!
We finished our 180kWp installation at City of Bristol College’s Parkway Centre last month. The solar panels are expected to provide bill savings of over £2,700 over the first year and generate over £18,100 in community benefit over the next 25 years.
“We’re really excited about the opportunity to work with the college and engage with the students there about community energy,” BEC’s project developer Anna Sherratt said.
The college has a range of academic and vocational courses available, offering full and part-time study from entry to degree level. There are a range of Green Skills courses on offer for students. We have exciting plans to work with the college to train up the next generation of solar installers.
The installation is part of the second phase of our South West Local Solar Scheme, which aims to install 550kWp by spring 2026. It is supported by funding from the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority’s Green Recovery Fund. You can read more about the first phase of the scheme here.
